And just like that, August is nearly in the rear view mirror and September is approaching.

I haven’t had time to do the usual monthly updates. Better late than never!

In July

  • I spent a week in The Netherlands for business. Flying ~5000 miles is always tough, and jet-lag was real. The highlight of that trip was a bike ride to/from Haarlem to Zandvort and an evening on the beach at The Spot. I also enjoyed Haarlemmerhout, the oldest public park in the Netherlands.
  • We had cocktails at Phởcific Standard Time (PST).
  • We visited Kerry Park in Seattle.
  • I changed gym memberships to Flow Fitness and changed to slightly different training times. It feels like these will be good changes, but only time will tell.
  • I spent a lot more time cycling. I went from no cycling in June to 70 or so miles in July. This took a day away from weight training. I imagine I’ll add the weight training day back when the rain returns.

In August

  • I hurt my back deadlifting. At first I thought the injury was severe, but I healed up in a few days (whew).
  • I spent a week in Chicago for business. My personal highlight was riding the public transit and eating Polish cuisine at Staropolska.
  • I saw Salmon at the Ballard Locks for the first time.
  • I finished reading Walking a Golden Mile and started reading All the Light We Cannot See.
