Virtual Andy is my ~15 year old tech focused blog. It covers software engineering, virtualization, cloud computing, computer networking, and other related topics.

Cloud Insight Index #

I spent most of the 2010s working for (and with) various cloud providers. It’s a very crowded space and it’s hard to understand individual cloud providers at a macro level, let alone compare them.

Cloud Insight Index is an early attempt at gathering information from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Azure. The first insight I’m after is a thorny one: incidents. My first attempt is to answer macro questions about cloud providers and incidents. Imagine being able to answer questions like:

  • How many incidents did each provider have for 2023?
  • Which geographies were most impacted?
  • Are there undocumented dependencies between provider services?
